Welcome to this month’s Use Your Stash Blog Hop where we are using up a bunch of that stashed RIBBON!! This hop is a circle; if you have just started simply continue until you make your way back here; if you have already started, you should be coming from Marie Flayer.
I have wanted to start making wreaths and this hop provided the perfect opportunity. The style I chose was also a great way to use up lots of ribbons! I simply started with a foam ring/wreath form. I pulled out various ribbons from my stash (some CTMH, others not) and cut them into lengths that would fit around the ring. Because I was using up ribbons, they are not all the same length but if you want a more uniform look you could cut them all the same. Next I sealed all the edges of the ribbons so they wouldn’t fray. After all the prep work was done, I sat down in front of the TV and started tying all the ribbons onto the ring. If I had a bunch of the same kind I spaced them around it. Once I had a bunch on, I pushed the ribbons together, then added more until it was full. Originally, I had planned to cover the ring completely with one type of ribbon but I didn’t have enough. If you do this, then you won’t have to push them together quite as much to cover the base. I finished the wreath by adding a FALL title using CTMH Jute Ribbon (retired).
I am also not a big fan of the colors I used on this project. They are great fall colors but not ones that I pull out when scrapbooking so this was a great way to use up a bunch of those colors and ribbons that would otherwise remain unused for a long time.
Now hop on over to Shirley!
