Welcome to the Everything ABC’s Blog Hop! For this hop we will be featuring the letter D. This may be the name of a paper, a stamp set or an embellishment. Whatever the crafter has chosen as their “D” element will be featured in their post.
For my “D” I chose DANCE and DISPLAY TRAY. I have been putting this project off for way too long. In fact, I think I was going to do it for the letter D blog hop last year! It came together very quickly. I used a combination of dance pictures (professional ones, personal ones, and some cut from Memory Mates). My original plan was to use Mod Podge for adhering everything but I decided to just go with glue dots instead. It was much faster, less messy, and I plan to store it in an enclosed cabinet so it shouldn’t get too dusty. I think a key to making these display trays really stand out is to add embellishments to the top layer of the tray to make it more 3-dimensional. I was happy that I had the pin to add to the corner as well. The dance title on the bottom would have hung off the edge except that I plan to stand the tray up instead of hanging it (good thing I put this all together before I stuck on that title piece!).
One of my goals this month is to use up my Clementine Paper Packet so you will see a bit more with this paper and then I will be done! For this layout I took two of the zip strips that were cut from the tops of the papers and put them together to make the decorative border in the center. I used Glitter Glitz to the edges of the scalloped circles to add some sparkle to the page. I used this sketch from Inspired Blueprints.
If I didn’t like paper scrapping so much, Studio J would definitely be my first choice for digital. Or I would use it if I had a big project that involved multiple layouts or many that coordinated I would use it. One of the changes lately in the Close to My Heart Idea Books is that the Level 1 layouts have changed from paper to Studio J. This isn’t a bad thing because it is so easy to use. As I look through the Idea Book, I find many of these Studio J layouts that I really like, however I have so many scrapbooking supplies that it makes sense to use these up. I’ve decided to start taking these Studio J layouts that I love, just like any other layout I would find online or in a magazine, and use it to create my own paper layout.
These are some of my favorite pictures of my daughter. They replaced her school photos since at this age they no longer trade with their friends. I figured if it’s just for me and family why not get some really nice photos so we took a trip to a flower garden and got these great shots! I don’t have the flip flaps on yet because I wanted to take my picture without the glare of a page protector but I have a stack of 4×6 photos on the right page that will be attached to my completed page with a couple flip flaps. I am very happy that I like the page as well as I do the photos!
