Welcome to our New Product Blog Hop!  We will be featuring products from the new yearly idea book! There are so many fun new things!! I chose to focus on using stencils.

If you have come here from Cat Nowak’s Blog , you are on the right path! The blog hop is a great big circle, so you can start here and work your way all around.  If you get lost along the way, you’ll find the complete list of participating consultants on Melinda’s Blog.  To visit each blog for some great ideas just click on the link at the end of the post on each blog to move to the next one! Here we go!

Supplies used are all Close to My Heart: Stencil Pack 1, Wood Grain Paper Packet, Tattered Rose Distress Oxide Ink, Clear Shimmer Brush, Lovely Paper Packet + Sticker Sheet (stickers), Sage Cardstock, Flower Sequins – White, and Bitty Sparkles.

I knew what I wanted to do with a stencil and when I found these photos I knew they would be perfect for the layout I had in mind. First, I used the stencil to add the mandala image to the background with Distress Oxide Ink. Next, I splattered with the Clear Shimmer Brush to create an even more distressed background with a bit if shimmer.

Here’s a closeup of how the clear shimmer looks on the background. It shines in the light and looks a bit darker at other angles.

TIPS when using your stencils:
*Look the stencil over carefully before using it for the first time to ensure that all the negative space is removed.
*Use on the All-Purpose Mat for easy cleanup and use washi tape to hold both your paper and stencil in place.
*I’d recommend using a baby wipe or the Stamp Shammy to clean your stencils. Do not use a paper towel or anything that will leave “fuzzies”.
*When cleaning delicate stencils, use a dabbing motion instead of a swiping or circular motion to avoid accidental tears.
