Welcome to our Technique Blog Hop! This month we are highlighting all types of basic techniques. This blog hop is a great big circle so you can start wherever you want and continue through to see all the fabulous artwork. If you are coming from Lauren Moore’s Blog, you are on the right track!
I chose distressing as my technique. I used my ink pad direct to the paper to add ink around the edges of all the papers. I thought the stickers might be a bit too bright with the white border so I took a sponge with black ink and lightly added ink right on top of the letters and spider web before I removed them from the sheet. I also added “speckles” of black on the background paper with the black shimmer brush by simply holding the brush horizontal over the paper and tapping. (Tip – if you don’t have enough color coming out just squeeze it a little but be careful to not get too much unless you want a really distressed look. I would recommend practicing on scrap paper first.)
The uneven doodling lines add to the “imperfect” look of the distressing.
And last, instead of adding bulky embellishments, I added my own “dots” using the Black Diamond Stickles.
Supply List: Spooktacular Paper Pack + Sticker Sheet, Black Shimmer Trim, Black Journaling Pen (.03), Black Ink, Black Shimmer Brush, and Black Diamond Stickles Glitter Gel.
Thanks for stopping by! Please continue onto Michelle Loncar ‘s Blog where you will find some additional artwork highlighting this technique! Be sure to leave a comment and let me know what you thought of my variation and happy hopping!
