Use Your Stash Blog Hop – Magnificent Metals

This hop is a circle; if you have just started simply continue until you make your way back here; if you have already started, you should be coming from Joy McHargue.

Girl Scout Bridging Layout by Wendy Kessler

Supplies used are all Close to My Heart: Cardstock (Outdoor Denim and Brown Bag (retired)), Ivy Lane Paper Packet, Jubilee Paper PacketPaper Fundamentals Basic Assortment, Skylark Complements, Durable Studs – Square (retired), Harvest Charms (retired), and Make It from Your Heart Volume 2 (Pattern 2).

I really enjoyed putting this layout together because it really is a stash buster.  I used old metals as well as scraps left from new papers, using up multiple paper packets.  For the metal I found some old accents that went with a specific paper packet.  This is a good example of thinking outside the box with these specific embellishments.  The complements that I used were also specific but I was able to mix those in as well.  I really wanted to use antique brads but it’s been so long I can’t find them (!) so I used the studs instead.

Now hop on over to Janet McCormick!

Come back on January 3 for a Cloud Nine Blog Hop where you can see more uses for this card kit than just making the specifically designed cards!

This was a very quick and easy card kit!  Below are the pics of the cards as I made them, most are the same as the kit specifies.  Note that there are both gold and silver Durables Triangle Studs.  I didn’t realize this until I was working on the last card and I needed more gold.  On some cards it doesn’t matter but if if there is Washi Tape used on the card you are going to want to use the gold studs.

Cloud Nine Card 1 by Wendy KesslerCard 1 – Thanks
I changed this to a Happy Birthday card since I use so many of those.  I was lazy and didn’t want to mask the Happy Birthday stamp so I tried using a sponge dauber to ink the stamp.  It worked for the most part but I had a couple smudges around the edge…thus my added swirls that I made with a marker to camouflage my flaw.

Both times when I stamped the mustache I thought I was “off” and it turned out perfectly.  Focus on lining up the center when you stamp this one.  Also, if you want this to look exactly like the picture, you will need to attach the Washi Tape first and layer the B&T Paper overtop.  I just centered my B&T Paper and lined up the Washi Tape along the top and bottom so you can see the difference in my picture.

A note on this one: for the big heart you only need to get good ink coverage around the edge because the center of the heart will be covered.  And make sure you stamp the smaller heart and sponge the larger one so they layer correctly.

**As a last note, when using the stamp set with the Artiste Cricut cartridge for future projects, you need to use Real Dial Size.

June Scrap Our Stash Challenge #4

SCThoseGuys

The June Challenge at Scrap Our Stash is a All About Our Guys!  Create a Male layout using at least 5 brads from your stash!  What a great challenge for the month of June with Father’s Day.

Here is my layout:

Boy Layout by Wendy Kessler

Supplies used: CTMH Later Sk8r Paper Packet, CTMH Fast and Furious stamp set, CTMH inks (Slate, Pear, Outdoor Denim, and Lagoon), Bazzill Collection Metals – Mono Mix Brads, and Making Memories Plain Charmed Photo Corners.

With three girls, I rarely do masculine layouts.  However, I had these pictures of my nephew and they were begging for me to use this stamp set!  The brads were easy to incorporate and I also added some metal from my stash.

What will you create? Go to Scrap Our Stash to submit your own layout.  You have until June 29th.

Scrap Our Stash Sketch #3

This month the Sketch with Stash Challenge #3 at Scrap Our Stash is to use this sketch and at least 3+ pre-made flowers from our stash.  This was an easy challenge for me because I LOVE both sketches and flowers!!

Princess Layout by Wendy Kessler

Supplies used: Stampin’ Up! Papers, American Crafts Elements Taffy Mini Jewel Brads, Making Memories Flower Metal Photo Corners, Studio 18 Gem Sticker, Prima Floral Embellishments, Bazzill Collection Cha Ching Brads, Recollections Boutique Fleur Floral Embellishments, Tattered Angels Pink Bubblegum Glimmer Mist, CTMH White Daisy Cardstock, and unknown felt flower ribbon.

This was one of those layouts that I didn’t like while I was doing it, not sure why.  When I left and came back to it, it didn’t seem so bad.  It won’t be a favorite but it passes for okay.

There is still time to submit your layout at Scrap Our Stash.  You have until May 29th.

Scrap Our Stash Sketch #2

Here’s the next sketch at Scrap Our Stash!  This time, use at least 6 buttons from your stash.

Here’s my layout:

Just Me & My Dad Layout by Wendy Kessler

Supplies used: Close to My Heart Buzz & Bumble Paper Packet, Close to My Heart Color-Ready Cork Alphabet, Making Memories buttons and flowers, and other Close to My Heart misc. retired embellishments.

I had a little trouble with the circle on this one.  I used the outside of a bowl to place the buttons but next time I will draw a line with pencil and then place the buttons.  Because of the different sizes, they didn’t line up as nice as I wanted them to.  This is a very different layout for me because of the colors but they worked well with the photos and I’ve almost used up this paper packet now.

There is still time to submit your layout at Scrap Our Stash.  You have until April 29th.
