Stamp Sunday #2 – Aspire

I hope you have enjoyed the blog hops that I’ve posted over the past couple days. Now on to the second in my series of Stamp Sundays. My daughter chose the Aspire Stamp Set for me this week. It was a great selection because I bought this specificaly to do some of her dance pictures and yet the stamp set went in my stash and the pictures have yet to be scrapped. So now is the time!

I just love scrapbooking dance pictures! A friend and I decided to set up a backdrop and take our own dance pictures. I’m not the best photographer but I know my children and the traditional pictures seem so posed. I like pictures that capture their personalities so I’ve decided I’m the best person for this. I love these pictures so much that I have put off scrapbooking them. I think the layout turned out nice and my daughter will be happy to see the finished product of her choice of stamp.

This was my layout from the March Challenge at Scrap Our Stash that I forgot to post. The challenge was “Spring Cleaning” – meaning dig something out from your stash, dust it off, and use it! I pulled out all the stops with this layout. Everything I used is old, old, old and I literally had to dust off my border punch! I used a sketch from My Little Sketch Book. I just love sketches! I’ve found some great sites lately and plan to use them more. They make scrapbooking so quick and easy!

Glitter and bling are among my favorite things! Well, among them and high on the list – really how do I pick just two!! I have seen many cards done where the papers are all matted but this is the first time I have done it and I have to say I like mine just as much as I like everyone else’s! I think I will be doing more of this. I’m not too worried about running out of paper. As I was making this I started wondering – does coloring get hard as you get older?? I don’t have many stamps to color in but I really like the look of them. Apparantly, I don’t know how to color! I guess that’s something for me to work on this year. I just never thought of it as a hard thing to do and now I’m starting to think that it is. I just love this fairy that was sent to me. I might have to start buying more stamps to color because I don’t have any detailed ones. I tend to stick to the simple stamps or two-step stamping because it’s faster. It is faster but I really am liking the colored look. This could be a good idea for my Christmas money. Well, enough rambling. It’s taken me long enough to make this card without prolonging it any further. I hope you enjoy it! Oh – just one more thing – the stamped image was sent to me and I wanted it cut smaller but I could not get it cut straight for anything – therefore I distressed the edges! It’s a great technique to fool the eye!

I came home tonight and needed some down time so for my relaxation I made this card. I used the distressing tool to rough up the edges of the stamped image and I really like the look in combination with the frayed fabric strips.

I have been telling myself all week that I am going to get to some crafting. It’s Wednesday night already and I am just getting started, and it’s late. Better late than never right? This sketch from Clean & Simple was perfect for a simple card. It also served as a confidence builder that I was able to finally get something done. I’m planning to set aside more time tomorrow. I found the ‘Wish’ rhinestone word on clearance yesterday at Michael’s. Great turnaround time on buying and using, don’t you think!

I Scream, You Scream…

…we all scream for ice cream! I didn’t have a diecut or any kind of ice cream stamps so I had to improvize for this card. Sometimes that works and other times it doesn’t. This was one of those time when what I thought in my head was actually how it turned out! I distressed the edges of the blue with my CTMH Distresser. I used Liquid Applique to add dimension to the ice cream and embossed and sanded the lines on the cone. The blue button was a bit bright and took away from the ice cream cone so I added a yellow button sticker to the top to tone it down.

This was a fun layout and the colors worked well together. I kinda wish I had made the rhinestone circle smaller but I like the pattern. I used a Mini Dots All Around template by TheCraftersWorkshop.com. I love this little template for making circles with eyelets, brads, buttons, bling, etc. Layout was based on Scrap Sketch #120.

Products used: Making Memories paper, Reminisce paper, KI Memories flourish glitter border sticker, Alice in Wonderland Disney stickers by EK Success, Basic Grey bling it rhinestones, and Cricut Mini Monograms cartridge.

Pink Birthday Card

I almost like this card. I’m hoping my creativity will flow better tomorrow. I think it is because I am working out of my card stash. I have a basket that is overflowing with scraps and pieces and embellishments that I have decided would work better on cards than on my scrapbook pages. Products used: KI Memories paper, Making Memories metal-rimmed tag. I used watercolor pencils to color in the gift. Brads, stamped image, ribbon, and metal mesh are unknown.

Pink Butterfly Card

It’s a gloomy day here in the midwest so we are inside making cards. My daughter said “watermelon” so I used that as inspiration for this card (watermelon colors) and it worked! Patterned paper is KI Memories, all other products were out of my scrap box.
