Supplies used: Die Cuts with a View paper, Close to My Heart ribbons, Close to My Heart Just Blooms Flutter Paper Shapes, American Crafts Thickers, and Close to My Heart Opaque Mocha Adhesive Gems.

When I first think of “use up scraps” I think of paper.  But for this hop I decided to do something different and use up some embellishments, specifically scraps of ribbon.  I really like using paper like this that already has a pattern on it.  It makes for a quick and easy layout.  I also like adding embellishments to the base like the pearls I added to the flower centers along the bottom.

I used the sketch below from The Scrapbook Room.  This would also work great to use up scraps of paper.

My rock n roll stamping technique is used for the circle border along the center of the page.  I first inked the image in Cranberry, then rolled in Outdoor Denim before stamping.  The glitter glitz was used to create the dots and the border, how cool is that!

D1195 The Works Alphabet $17.95

Supplies used: CTMH The Works Alphabet stamp set, Die Cuts With a View papers, CTMH Pacifica ink, Making Memories felt flowers, and American Crafts Elements Medium Glitter Brads.

This is a great size alphabet set for longer titles, subtitles, or when you only have a small space on your page.  I also love that it includes uppercase, lowercase, numbers and punctuation for just $17.95.

I have to admit that I started the title on this layout straight and for some reason couldn’t see the letter “o” correctly.  So I’m sharing a secret with you…even though the clear stamps are AWESOME for lining up exactly where you want them, sometimes that doesn’t work or we are plain lazy.  I love to move my letters around so they are intentionally not straight.  That way there is no messing up and look how cute and playful it looks on this layout!  It is also a good option if your title is a tight fit on the page because you can arrange the letters to take up less room.  Note that I stamped on textured cardstock and it stamped very clear, just make sure your ink pad is not dry so you get the good coverage.

This was actually a 4-page layout.  This is something I will do when I have a lot of pictures for a particular event.  I will scrapbook them in the same papers/embellishments so they are easily recognized as one event.  Here are the other pages:

E1020 Token Alphabet  $29.95

(I apologize for the poor quality pic.  I didn’t finish this until tonight after dark.)

Supplies used: CTMH Token Alphabet stamp set, DCWV papers (I think), CTMH Chocolate ink, Art Philosophy cartridge, CTMH Cotton Candy ink, CTMH buttons, and misc. flowers from my stash.

This stamp set came out before the CTMH Cricut cartridges but I was still able to make it work.  Who wants to cut all those circles?!?  I had to change the settings on my Cricut to mm (push Settings button, OK for language, + button to move to the Inches=1/10ths, then OK).  I cut the circles at 1.10 and they were perfect!  I also like the patterned circles that you can add to the letters.  I added my patterns with Cotton Candy and second generation stamping.  These would also make super cute polka dots on a background paper!  Here’s another longer title that I love that came from The Perfect Title.

I took a different approach to the technique this month.  I am showing some of the things besides stamped images that you can color with the new Close to My Heart alcohol markers.  I used both colors that come in the Twilight set but for the most part I did not notice a difference in color. I did like the lighter color for the butterflies but I did one with each and you can see there is not much of a difference, if you can tell at all.  The sparkles are a very light color with they are finished.  My favorite coloring was on the pearls.  They took the color very well and are beautiful!  I would recommend either heat-setting the pearls and sparkles or letting them out to dry.  After 10 minutes, my pearls were still wet to touch but they were dry overnight.

Other items that would be good to color: Color-Ready Wooden Shapes, Color-Ready Alphabets, ribbon, any of the Just Blooms, cork, chipboard, etc.

This layout is for the September Challenge at Scrap Our Stash.  It’s Back To School but not the theme as it implies.  Instead, you choose your own B, T, and S.  For example, my challenge was B =Brads, T = Thickers, and S = Stickles.  I just love the colors of this layout!  And this DCWV paper is so easy to create a quick layout.  I use the Stickles to add some sparkle to the paper in the flower centers.  The brads are added to the flower centers on the middle right of the page, and I had to add a bit more Stickles to this area as well.  Last, the Thickers are used for the title.  I have such a hard time coming up with titles.  I found this one at The Perfect Title, my favorite place for ideas!  Here’s a closeup of the Stickles:

D1469  Polka Dot Alphabet  $17.95

Supplies used: CTMH Polka Dot Alphabet stamp set,DCWV papers, CTMH Chocolate ink, CTMH Sophia Journaling Spots (retired), Mark Richards Crystal Stickers, and Micheal’s Rhinestones.

It’s clear that I used this stamp set for the title, but I also used the letter V to create the banner-like images on the bottom right of the layout and by the title.

A1121  A Blossom $6.95

Take a close look and you will see that the flowers of this stamp set are a perfect match to my daughter’s outfit in these photos!!

C1501 A New Arrival

I originally had planned to use the Stamp of the Month this week but this stamp set spoke to me instead.  A simple layout.

I’m not much for monochromatic, however it is a great choice for busy photos.  My photos has so much color that by using one color in my layout it works well.  I used the Glitter Glitz (which I love!) to add some sparkle directly to the page.  I also used it to “color” my butterflies.  Here’s a closeup:

(C1486 Lucy ) This set is sold exclusively as part of the Lucy Workshop on the Go.  I really love these workshops.  They come with all coordinating products (a paper packet, a C-size stamp set, and embellishments as well as an instruction booklet.  After you have used the workshop to is max, you will still have the stamp set forever to use on many more projects.

I just love the girly pink colors of this paper but I wanted to show you another look with the same stamp set.  I really liked this card from Jeanette Lynton’s blog and changed it up to make it my own.

I had to get my Creative Memories cutting system out for this one.  It’s been forever since I’ve used it but it sure made it easy to create this window card.  I also forgot just how much Baker’s Twine comes on one card.  I’m going to have to use this more often.  I was going to add some sparkles to this card and was looking through my box of rhinestones and found a package of brads (not where they were supposed to be) that I liked better than my original plan.  I used Liquid Glass to attach the stamped butterfly to the twine so that it won’t come off but will still have movement.  I think this card will make a nice non-traditional baby card or a birthday card for a little one.

Tip: To create my background I chose 1 large, 1 medium, and 1 small stamp.  I random stamped with Lagoon (second generation), Cotton Candy, and Black (second generation).  Second generation stamping is when you ink your image, stamp first on scrap paper, and then without reinking stamp on your project.  It gives you a shade lighter than the original color.  To soften the bright white, I sprayed with a mixture of Vineyard Berry reinker, Create-a-Shade Paint, and water in a Spray Pen.  Last I added some stamped words.  A few more tips: when creating backgrounds like this is to stamp off the edge of the page and start by first stamping the largest image and then fill in from there with the smaller images.
