January 2012 Use Your Stash Blog Hop – Cherish Layout using Topstitch

WELCOME! I’m so glad you are joining us for our very first “Use Your Stash Blog Hop”. This hop is made up of all Close to My Heart consultants who have banded together to use some of the many things we have just sitting around and not getting used. This will be a monthly blog hop. I know I am really looking forward to using up some of my older product. I hope it will give you some fresh ideas and inspire you to do the same. If you have already started, you should be coming from Michelle Battitori’ s Blog. If this is your first stop, continue through until you make your way back here.

Today I am using Topstitch papers and My Stickease.

I have been waiting to scrap these pictures. I knew as soon as I saw them that I would use this paper. Today was the day I dug it out and it all came together beautifully! I really need to dig out more My Stickease because they make for some quick, easy, and great-looking pages!

Dance Buddies Layout

Supplies used: SEI Glitzmas paper, CTMH cardstock, CTMH Playful Flourishes stamp set, Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge by CTMH, CTMH Black ink, KI Memories Flourish Borders, Kaiser Rhinestones, CTMH Color-Ready Hodge Podge Alphabet Stickers, Martha Stewart Carrara Marble Glitter, and Recollections Glitter Shapes.

These sparkly pictures needed a page with lots of sparkle. I think I added that. I ordered the SEI paper online and for some reason only got one sheet and when I went back they were sold out. It must have looked different on my computer screen because I love it in person and was wondering why I didn’t order 2 sheets. I stamped the Pacifica blue cardstock with stamps from Playful Flourishes (one of my all-time favorite sets). I used the new CTMH Ruler for lining up the rhinestones for an embellishment border. I pictured glittery white letters for my title and really thought I’d find some in my stash but no such luck. So I had to create my own. I used a Zig Glue Pen to apply adhesive to the alphabet stickers, then covered with glitter and let dry.

Sharing from the Heart Blog Hop – January 2012

The Sharing from the Heart Blog Hop is a mixture of Close to My Heart consultants and customers who have come together to share their projects. Supplies used are all CTMH: Art Philosophy Cricut Cartridge, My Creations Banner, Sweetheart Paper Pack, Silver Brads, Mad About You stamp set (December SOTM), Bling Assortment Buttons, Black Waxy Flax, 3D foam tape, Crochet Flowers, and Cotton Candy, Black, & Tulip inks.

This paper was on clearance for only $3 for the pack. It was one of my favorites so I just had to get another one. When we had Valentines as an option for this blog hop it arrived at the perfect time. At first I was going to make a card, then I thought maybe a layout, then I remembered that I wanted banners for holidays throughout the year. There is plenty of paper in a paper pack so I decided to go for it and the great thing is I would have it done for the upcoming holiday!

I cut the scalloped pennants using the Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge at 7″. I cut cardstock for the base on the ones that I used B&T paper on. I also mounted all the pieces on the My Creations chipboard Banner. One thing I noticed when I used the inside and out of the banners and I flipped some over to use the different patterns on the paper…the inside piece did not match up if I flipped it over. You’d think that with this pattern it wouldn’t matter but it must be off a little, just enough to not line up. On those pieces I added embellishments to cover up the space. Next time I make one, if I use this same pattern, I will use the cardstock as my base again and just use one piece of B&T paper so I don’t have to worry about it matching up exact. Letters are also cut with the Art Philosophy cartridge at 2″.

This is my most favorite paper from the 2011 Fall/Winter Idea Book! After completing the pages and cards, I just keeping looking at them because they are so beautiful. I was excited about this pack because we had just taken family photos (doesn’t happen very often) and I knew they would go perfect with this paper pack! The above layouts are from the workshop. I swapped out the background on the one and used Olive Cardstock and used the backside of the B&T that I was supposed to use to create the layouts below. I used paper and embellishments that were leftover from the workshop and bonus project materials.

CTMH Technique Blog Hop – Glitter Glitz

Glitter Glitz is such a great product with so many possibilities! This blog hop will be sure to jump start your thinking on the many different ways it can be used!

Closeup:

First I just have to say that Glitter Glitz is one of my favorite products. Close to My Heart currently has four different colors available – Stardust, Bronze, Silver, and Red. It is so versatile and can be used to sparkle-up anything including stamped images, ribbon, flowers, buttons, and more. You can also use it for doodling or accents.

Now to my layout…it is made from the Sophia Workshop on the Go Kit and I made it my own by adding some Stardust Glitter Glitz. I love the fine-tipped applicator! It makes it so easy to control for making thin or thick lines. I added glitter to my stamped images, to the pattern paper, and along my scalloped border. I also put some around the edges of my flower. The middle of my flower is a pear-colored button. I added the Glitter Glitz to the middle and around the edge. Once that dried, I poked a tulip-colored brad through the button holes for extra detail.

Corn Maze Layout

Supplies used: Close to My Heart Mischief Level 2 Paper Pack, Stampin Up punch, ProvoCraft Rob & Bob Studio coaster card, Close to My Heart You & Me stamp set, Close to My Heart Barn Red and Black ink, Close to My Heart buttons, Close to My Heart Waxy Flax, and foam tape.

This layout was inspired by Tammy’s layout from this months Scrap Our Stash Pagerize Challenge. I really used my stash with this one. The striped background paper is actually two pieces of scraps that I put together (using the stripes as my guide) and if you were to take off the photo mat you’d see the hole in the middle. I really liked this paper though and was determined to use it. And you’d never know! I took Tammy’s layout and turned it. Her border punch reminded me of one I had (that I’ve never used until now!). The orange coaster was too bright but it was perfect after I inked it up with some Barn Red. I changed the photo in the circle to journaling and mimicked her pieced title.

Fanfare Workshop Projects

I really enjoyed using the Fanfare papers from Close to My Heart. Maybe it was because they were different for me in the fact that there’s no pink, ha! Funny thing is both girls wanted their pictures on these pages (they liked the blue). With the red/white/blue theme they were perfect for the July Challenge at Scrap Our Stash. The first thing I thought of when I saw these papers was Fourth of July but I didn’t use any of those types of pictures. These are really great, versatile papers!

Here are the layouts that I created with the Fanfare Workshop Kit:

By switching out papers for the above layouts, I saved the papers below because I thought they’d make really quick and easy layouts. As you can see I basically just matted my photo and added a few embellishments:

May 2011 CTMH Blog Hop – Buttons

Welcome to yet another Close to My Heart Blog Hop. This month we are featuring buttons. CTMH has many new button shapes that are absolutely adorable!

The hop forms a circle so if you are starting here, simply continue until you make your way back. If you are coming from Nikka’s blog you are on the right track.

Supplies used are all CTMH: Cherry-O Paper Pack, Love Letter Rub-ons, Colonial White Grosgrain Ribbon, and Buttons-Pink Assortment.

As you can see from the supply list, this was a very simple page. The scattering of buttons draws attention to the title. The idea came to me in my sleep – just drop a handful of buttons and let them be. This turned out to work well, giving a greater sense of randomness. The button at the top of the page with the ribbon is strategically placed to cover up a person in the background of the photo.

Summer Swim Layout

Supplies used: DCWV The Glitter Stack papers, Recollections Glitter Adhesive Borders, PC Stand-Outs, Heidi Swapp rubons, Me & My Big Ideas chipboard stickers, and misc buttons and dew drops from my stash. I used a Sketch Inspiration Sketch.

The Monthly Challenge on Scrap Our Stash for April is “Bring in the Sun”. I don’t know why this was so hard for me but I am very happy with the outcome. First, I was stumped for what I was going to do. I looked through my stash and didn’t have “sun” anything. Then I found swim pictures and thought I would focus on the color yellow (one that doesn’t make it into many of my layouts). Then, I added my own little mini challenge to not use pink. In the end, I love the layout. I think because it is so different and that will make a nice addition to my books. Go over to Scrap Our Stash and join the challenge!

February 2011 CTMH Spotlight Blog Hop – Color Combos

Welcome back! This month for our Close to My Heart Spotlight Blog Hop we are focusing different Color Combos. You should either be starting here or coming from Jill (Scrap Wench) blog. You can find a complete list of participants on the previous post.

Supplies used are all Close to My Heart: Imagine book (p.46), Magic Moments paper, Cherry-O paper, Tulip & White Daisy cardstock, Smiles stamp set, Pennant Alphabet stamp set, Tulip/Sweet Leaf/Crystal Blue inks, and Tulip Mini-Medley Accents.

I chose my color combo from the Color Me Monday section on Jeanette Lynton’s Blog. This is a great resource for choosing colors that coordinate. Another great place to look for inspiration is the Close to My Heart Idea Books. As you browse through look at the upper corner of the page to see the color combinations that were used for the projects on that particular page. I often struggle with what colors to put together and both these resources help in that process.
So, my colors are Crystal Blue, Sweet Leaf, Tulip, & White Daisy. I dug into my stash of paper packs and found these papers in the Magic Moments and Cherry-O packs. Who would have thought? It’s the backside of the B&T paper. Here’s what the front sides look like:

I wasn’t a big fan of the Pennant Alphabet but it seemed the right choice for this layout and the flower garden along the bottom turned out just like I pictured it!

I think I’ve finally got a roll back into scrapbooking after Miranda’s birth. It is so much fun scrapbooking baby photos! This is the additional layout from the Wings Workshop Kit (available until July 31, 2010). After this one I have a feeling you may be seeing more black and white photos from me, I’ve always liked the look but never taken the time…
