Stamp Sunday #5 -Just For You

Today’s stamp selection is a new set from the 2012 Spring/Summer Idea Book. It is called Just for You.

Supplies used: B1398 Just For You stamp set, Stella Paper Packet, Colonial White Die-Cut Cards & Envelopes, and Olive, Cocoa, Sunset, and Lagoon inks.

I really liked this set but decided I had enough flower stamps. Then I saw some artwork….then I noticed that it was only a B-size set which meant it was only $9.95…how could I pass it up! Here is a quick card I made today. The stem is cut from a border from the Stella paper pack. You could also stamp the stem instead. I used one of the petal stamps to create the stamped scalloped border along the top of the card. I used second generation stamping for the petals of the flower and rock and roll stamping for the center (inked first with Olive, then rolled the edges in Cocoa ink before stamping the image).

I have been waiting to scrap these pictures. I knew as soon as I saw them that I would use this paper. Today was the day I dug it out and it all came together beautifully! I really need to dig out more My Stickease because they make for some quick, easy, and great-looking pages!

NEW Valentine’s Layout for Scrap Our Stash January Challenge

This month the challenge at Scrap Our Stash is anything based on the word NEW, so maybe a New Year’s layout, a new baby, or a new scrapbook product, etc. I went shopping at the Mall of America on New Year’s Day (crazy, I know!) but I found this cute paper and stickers so that’s my new. The layout went together quickly using a sketch from Scrapbook Generation’s Sketches for Scrapbooking Volume 8 (LOVE THIS!). I was very happy with this layout and how I was able to use my new supplies as well as some things like the heart-shaped brads (remember metal is my stash buster this month!) and ribbon from my stash.

Stamp Sunday #2 – Aspire

I hope you have enjoyed the blog hops that I’ve posted over the past couple days. Now on to the second in my series of Stamp Sundays. My daughter chose the Aspire Stamp Set for me this week. It was a great selection because I bought this specificaly to do some of her dance pictures and yet the stamp set went in my stash and the pictures have yet to be scrapped. So now is the time!

I just love scrapbooking dance pictures! A friend and I decided to set up a backdrop and take our own dance pictures. I’m not the best photographer but I know my children and the traditional pictures seem so posed. I like pictures that capture their personalities so I’ve decided I’m the best person for this. I love these pictures so much that I have put off scrapbooking them. I think the layout turned out nice and my daughter will be happy to see the finished product of her choice of stamp.

Supplies used: Roxie Paper Packet, Roxie My Stickease, and square-shaped gold brads.

This layout was so simple to put together and I am very pleased with the result. There were not many scraps left by the time I finished the Roxie Workshop layouts and bonus project (come back to my blog on Thursday to see more) but this just goes to show how you can stretch those last scraps to create just one more layout. I was looking for additional embellishments and at first I chose the brads because they are my stash buster for this month….I liked the gold but I only had the square ones which I don’t normally use. If it hadn’t been for this I never would have picked these but I love them on this layout. The picture is blurry, yes, but I just love this photo of my daughter who rarely wants her picture taken anymore.

The Sharing from the Heart Blog Hop is a mixture of Close to My Heart consultants and customers who have come together to share their projects. Supplies used are all CTMH: Art Philosophy Cricut Cartridge, My Creations Banner, Sweetheart Paper Pack, Silver Brads, Mad About You stamp set (December SOTM), Bling Assortment Buttons, Black Waxy Flax, 3D foam tape, Crochet Flowers, and Cotton Candy, Black, & Tulip inks.

This paper was on clearance for only $3 for the pack. It was one of my favorites so I just had to get another one. When we had Valentines as an option for this blog hop it arrived at the perfect time. At first I was going to make a card, then I thought maybe a layout, then I remembered that I wanted banners for holidays throughout the year. There is plenty of paper in a paper pack so I decided to go for it and the great thing is I would have it done for the upcoming holiday!

I cut the scalloped pennants using the Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge at 7″. I cut cardstock for the base on the ones that I used B&T paper on. I also mounted all the pieces on the My Creations chipboard Banner. One thing I noticed when I used the inside and out of the banners and I flipped some over to use the different patterns on the paper…the inside piece did not match up if I flipped it over. You’d think that with this pattern it wouldn’t matter but it must be off a little, just enough to not line up. On those pieces I added embellishments to cover up the space. Next time I make one, if I use this same pattern, I will use the cardstock as my base again and just use one piece of B&T paper so I don’t have to worry about it matching up exact. Letters are also cut with the Art Philosophy cartridge at 2″.

This was an easy layout because I used the example on the back of the My Stickease. I added Stickles to the flowers on the B&T paper and to accent the My Stickease.

2012 Stamp Sunday #1 – Rock Around the Block

Okay, so here it goes…my first Stamp Sunday post! This week I just had to choose the Rock Around the Block stamp set from this month’s Close to My Heart Rock Around the Block Campaign. When I did the Blog Hop for this special I didn’t even use the stamp set so I wanted to make sure it didn’t get lost in my stash. It is a fun, versatile set.

Supplies used: Patterned paper from my stash, Stampin’ Up cardstock, CTMH Cotton Candy & Tulip ink, CTMH Rock Around the Block stamp set, and brads from my stash. Loosely based on a December 2006 Page Map sketch.

I used second generation stamping with Cotton Candy ink to get the lighter shade of pink. My original plans were to use the flower stamps around the title but I liked it with just the flourishes. I can’t believe that I didn’t use any of the flowers!

For the bonus project below, I didn’t want all the journaling so I used extra cardstock to make photo mats for each page. You can see the brads that I used…I would recommend using the bare minimum for embellishments and keeping them flat. These worked in the small amounts that I used but if I did it over again I would leave them off. Also, I would complete all the pages before adhering them in the book. And use Mod Podge or another strong adhesive. I used my ATG gun and it is not holding the binding after the book has been used (open and closing). I have to say it’s the first thing that my ATG adhesive hasn’t held.

Closeup:

First I just have to say that Glitter Glitz is one of my favorite products. Close to My Heart currently has four different colors available – Stardust, Bronze, Silver, and Red. It is so versatile and can be used to sparkle-up anything including stamped images, ribbon, flowers, buttons, and more. You can also use it for doodling or accents.

Now to my layout…it is made from the Sophia Workshop on the Go Kit and I made it my own by adding some Stardust Glitter Glitz. I love the fine-tipped applicator! It makes it so easy to control for making thin or thick lines. I added glitter to my stamped images, to the pattern paper, and along my scalloped border. I also put some around the edges of my flower. The middle of my flower is a pear-colored button. I added the Glitter Glitz to the middle and around the edge. Once that dried, I poked a tulip-colored brad through the button holes for extra detail.

CTMH Spotlight Blog Hop – My Stickease

Welcome to the December 2011 Close to My Heart Spotlight Blog Hop! This month we are featuring My Stickease (some currently on sale on my website). I just love these cardstock stickers by Close to My Heart. You can use them as is for a great looking layout that you can create in no time or you can add to them as I have done below.

Supplies used are all Close to My Heart: Splendor Paper Packet, Splendor My Stickease, Liquid Glass, Stardust Glitter Glitz, and Brads Metal Assortment.

My Stickease are a quick way to create a fabulous layout. To add some extra pizzazz to my layout I added antique brads to the flower centers, Glitter Glitz to border my title, and Liquid Glass to the “brads” in the lower right corner. This layout can be filed this under the “30 minutes or less” category! I used the 8 1/2 x 11 horizontal Dec. 2011 Page Map as inspiration.

Sharing from the Heart Blog Hop – Christmas card

I chose the Christmas card theme. Since I have used up all of the paper from the current Believe Paper Packet, I pulled out an older one for this project. I had scraps left from the Mistletoe Paper Packet and decided that I would make cards until it was gone. Then I dug into my stash of Christmas embellishments to see what I could use up there. It’s amazing how far scraps can go!

CTMH Technique Blog Hop – Ghosting

Welcome to our Technique Blog Hop! This month there are 13 of us highlighting the Ghosting Technique as shown on page 45 in the 2011 Autumn/Winter Idea Book! The basics for this technique is to stamp an image with VersaMark ink, emboss it, then sponge around the image with a contrasting ink to create a negative image.

All supplies are Close to My Heart: Zippidee Paper Packet, Zippidee Fancy Fuzz, Indian Corn Blue ink, Cranberry ink, Rustic Numbers stamp set, Argle Backgrounds stamp set, Save the Date stamp set, Cricut Art Philosophy Collection, and antique brads (Brads-Metal Assortment).

I cut the stars with my Cricut, then stamped on them with the Argle Background stamp, heated and sponged the color. For my title, I did the same thing but I used StazOn ink for the July.

Other ideas:

Stamp images after embossing, making them look like they are in the background (without having to use masking).

Use a variety of different embossing powder colors for even more flair.

If you don’t have the color of embossing powder that you need, you can stamp the image like normal, then stamp again overtop with Versamark and emboss it with clear powder.

I chose to show you a Christmas gift idea. These My Creations 6×6 albums are among my favorites! They are inexpensive, you can use scraps and supplies that you already have, and they can be customized for anyone. The one I made here is for a grandparent for Christmas. The masculine look would also be perfect for a Father’s Day gift for Dad to take for his desk at work.

Supplies used are all CTMH: My Creations 6×6 Memory Showcase, Lucky Level 2 Paper Packet, Shimmer Designer Brads, Outdoor Denim Ink, and Reflections Scrapbook Program.
