Welcome to the May 2012 Close to My Heart Spotlight Blog Hop! This month we are Metal Accessories. Close to My Heart has quite the variety. Check out all the metal embellishments on page 127 (p.129 if you are looking at the online book) of the 2012 Spring/Summer Idea Book. These include the Mini-Medleys, Binder Clips, Ribbon Slides, Number Plates, Pin Clips, Filigree Charms, Photo Hangers and Hinges.

I used some older product for this layout. It was good to dig deep into my stash!

Supplies used are all CTMH unless noted: Take a Picture Stamp Set, Topstitch Paper Packet (retired), Heavenly Blue ink, Baby Pink ink, Chocolate ink, Cocoa Ribbon (retired), Basic Brads Assortment, Designer Pewter Brads, Brown Stazon ink, and Petaloo Color Me Crazy Flowers.

I thought of this stamp set right away when I pulled out this picture! It was the perfect match and lots of fun to use with many different options. I used it for the title, journaling, corners, and embellishing. My favorite part of this page is the stamping on the flower. I used the small flourish in the set and it was the perfect touch to the plain flower.

Supplies used: Unknown papers from my stash, Petaloo Flowers, CTMH Keepsake Alphabet, CTMH Cotton Candy ink, CTMH Cocoa ink, CTMH Twinkle Brads (retired).

I created the two-tone title by first inking the letter with Cotton Candy ink, then I used a sponge dauber to apply Cocoa ink to the bottom part of the letter, then stamped.

Supplies used are all Close to My Heart: Silhouette Paper Packet (retired), Color-Ready Garden Wooden Shapes, journal tags (retired), Opaque Pearl Adhesive Gems, Black Ribbon Round (retired), Pink Sparkles, Black ink, and Desert Sand ink.

This was a fun challenge and helped me scrap pictures that I was struggling with because they had both pink and red in them. The neutral papers solved this problem.

Stamp Sunday #18 – Say it in Style

D1283 Say it in Style

Supplies used are all Close to My Heart: Say It In Style stamp set, Bamboo Cardstock, Veranda Paper Packet (retired), Felicity stamp set (retired), Seam Binding Ribbon, Stazon ink, Juniper ink, and Opaque Mocha Adhesive Gems.

I used this stamp set to stamp words on the Color-Ready Seam Binding Ribbon. I learned you HAVE to use Stazon ink! I tried with regular and it bled all over. Now that is the nature of this ribbon and it’s a good thing because when you ink it, the color blends well throughout the ribbon for an even look, whether you are using one color or fading to multiple colors on one piece. But for stamping on it, this works only with the Stazon but it does work! Now I just need to improve my skills with using the StazOn ink.

Supplies used are all Close to My Heart: Silhouette Paper Packet (retired), Black ink, The Best Things stamp set, and Originals (no longer available but check out these other great How-To Books).

I just love how easy it is to create a quick card using Close to My Heart products. I was short on time for this project so I made things simple by first choosing to do a card. I already had the Silhouette papers picked out in my head so I knew I had all the coordinating paper I needed. I found a stamp set that would work and grabbed my Originals book. It didn’t take long for everything to come together. I may add some Bitty Opaques Pearl Adhesive Gems for some added embellishing but I’ve used them so much lately that I’m out right now. I’ve learned that these and Sparkles are things I should always have on hand.

Art Philosophy Blog Hop – One Quick Card

Today we have a blog hop featuring the Close to My Heart Art Philosophy Cricut Collection. If you have already started, you should be coming from Eva’s blog.

I didn’t get my project done for this hop like I had planned so I ended up putting something together at the last minute. I discovered another great thing about this collection. You can whip something together quick and it will look great! This is my 15-minute card:

Supplies used are all Close to My Heart: Art Philosophy Cricut Collection, Silhouette Paper Packet (retired), Colonial White Grosgrain Ribbon (retired), Opaques Adhesive Gems- Mocha, Just Blooms Paper Shapes – Flutter, and Black ink.

One more thing I learned is that the slits that the Cricut cuts on the card option work great to feed ribbon through for the front of the card! Now continue to Michelle’s blog for more Art Philosophy creations.
