Picture My Life Fun Blog Hop

Welcome to this month’s CTMH Technique Blog Hop.  This month we are featuring the Picture My Life Cards.  If you have already started the hop, you should be coming from Melissa Robinson.

Fun & Sun Watercolor Layout by Wendy KesslerSupplies used are all Close to My Heart: Kaleidoscope Paper Packet, Watercolor Paints, Waterbrush – Medium Flat, Waterbrush – Medium Round, Handwritten Print Stamp Set, Gypsy Ink, Silver Foil Tape, and Fundamental Assortment – Thistle.

These are some pictures of my girls outside “painting” with water.  I love how the Kaleidoscope paper on the background resembles sunspots.  I used a Watercolor Card as a base for the title on my layout.  Once the watercolor was dry, I stamped the rest of the title.  I had to tell myself “less is more” when it came to the glitter stars. 🙂

Tip: If you have some color that remains on the embossed image, the watercolor brush (round or small depending on the surface area) works well to remove this (either before or after it dries).

CTMH Technique Blog Hop – Color Your World

Welcome to this month’s CTMH Technique Blog Hop.  This time around we are using different coloring forms and techniques.  If you have already started the hop, you should be coming from Darlys Recker.

Colored Card by Wendy KesslerSupplies used are all Close to My Heart: Ornate Blossoms Stamp Set, Sangria Paper Packet, Georgie Paper Packet, ShinHan Markers (Warm Grey 4, Peony Purple, Cerulean Blue Light, Turquoise Blue, Tender Pink, Cherry Pink), Slate Diagonal Striped Ribbon, and Purple Glitter Gems.

I made this card with a mixture of papers that I had left over from different paper packets.  I love when one side of the paper is mostly one color because it makes it so easy to mix and match with other packs!  I bet you wouldn’t have thought of combining Sangria with Georgie!  However, the true highlight of my card is the Ornate Blossoms stamped image.  I was so excited to use this.  I cut and stamped a bunch of them to color at my leisure and add to projects later.  My favorite coloring method is the ShinHan Markers.

CTMH Technique Blog Hop – Let’s Interact

13100734_10153613553017934_918703727105978032_nWelcome to this month’s CTMH Technique Blog Hop.  If you have already started the hop, you should be coming from Darlys Recker.

Flip Flap Layout by Wendy KesslerSupplies used are all Close to My Heart: Happy Times Paper Packet, Happy Times Stamp Set, Inks (Crystal Blue, Canary), Crystal Blue Cardstock, Noted Stamp Set, Memory Protector Flip Flaps, Scallop Border Punch, White & Gold Ribbon, and Gold Sequins Assortment.

The first thing that comes to mind when I think “interactive pages” is Flip Flaps.  They are such a great way to expand your pages when you have lots of pictures that you want to display.  The 4×6 Flip Flaps are the easiest to use because you can simply layer them on top of a 4×6 photo.  On this layout I have used some of the larger Flip Flaps to give you some ideas on how to use them.  When designing a page using these larger flaps, I create my top layer first.  I also noted photos that I would use inside the flaps and set aside for later.  I kept these sections in mind so that I wouldn’t overlap on these areas.  Once my “top” layout was complete (what you see in the picture above), I added the other sections that would be inside the flaps.  I attached all the bases/papers and photos first, then finished off with embellishing.

Tip: To add Flip Flaps to your page, fold the adhesive strip towards the opening of the flip flap and use a Bone Folder to set the crease.  Remove the adhesive strip and attach to the top of your page protector.  Make sure that if you are doing a two-page layout that you have your pages positioned correctly in the page protectors.

Everything ABC’s Blog Hop (Letter J)

Welcome to the Everything ABC’s Blog Hop!  For this hop we will be featuring the letter J. This may be the name of a paper, a stamp set or an embellishment. Whatever the crafter has chosen as their “J” element will be featured in their post.  If you came from Catherine Nowak ~ then you’re on the right track!10178117_10208292254205571_4929240357548789413_nCupcake Wars Layout by Wendy KesslerProducts used are all Close to My Heart: Happy Times Paper Packet, Juniper Cardstock, Artfully Sent Cricut Cartridge, Gold Shimmer Trim, Corner Rounder, ShinHan Marker Vivid Green, Micro-tip Scissors, and Scallop Border Punch.

My layout is a centered on the color Juniper for my “J” element which I used as the Cardstock base for this layout.  I cut the foil flowers out from one of the B&T papers in the Happy Times Paper Packet.  I used the ShinHan Marker Vivid Green marker to color the leaves!  You can just “scribble” the color over the leaves and then cut out because the gold foil resists the marker ink.
