Use Your Stash Blog Hop – Zippidee Do Da

This month for our Use Your Stash Blog Hop we are using Zip Strips.  These are the 1/2-inch strips that you cut off the top of the B&T Duos (patterned papers).  I love that CTMH has added this to their papers because Zip Strips are great!  Hop through to find a variety of uses for them!

This hop is a circle; if you have just started simply continue until you make your way back here; if you have already started, you should be coming from Janet McCormick.

Perfect Day Card by Wendy KesslerSupplies used: Skylark Paper Packet, Cardstock (Sweet Leaf & Chocolate), Cocoa ink, Quantrefoil Embossing Folder, and Colonial White Cards & Envelopes.

It’s hard to see from the picture but this card starts with a Colonial White base and the Chocolate Cardstock is matted onto that.  I used zip strips to make the layered flower (which I inked to add a bit more dimension) and I also used a zip strip for the sentiment on this card.  All strips are from Skylark.  I really didn’t want to add any more bulk to the flower so I cut a thin strip of cardstock and used that in the center of the button.  Enjoy the hop!

Use Your Stash Blog Hop – Brings May Flowers

Dolls Layout by Wendy Kessler

Supplies used: Retired paper packet, Paper Flowers (retired), Brown & Tan Sparkles, Gold Shimmer Trim (exclusive to the Ivy Lane Cardmaking Workshop on the Go Kit), and Scallop Border Punch.  Sketch from Sketch Savvy.

This layout was a fun way to use flowers, not only did I use the paper flowers but the paper I used also has flowers.  I tried something new with this layout; I used the Shimmer Trim to create my title.  It worked well in making the block letters and was the perfect size!

Use Your Stash Blog Hop – Bling Showers

Ron & Gloria Layout by Wendy Kessler

Supplies used are all Close to My Heart: Perfect Day Paper Packet, Stitched Ribbon, Pearl Flourishes, Opaque Pearls, Red Glitter Gems, Cricut Art Philosophy Cartridge, and Cardstock (Ruby and Juniper).  Sketch from Sketch Savvy.

I combined bling on my layout, using both pearls and sparkles!  It’s kind of hard to see from the photo but the pearl flourishes are in the bottom right corner and I used red sparkle gems on the oval shape.  I did a great job using up my stash on this one as most of it is older, retired product, however if you like the layout and want to duplicate it, you can easily use different paper and Sparkle Flourishes instead!
For the scalloped strip I used the Art Philosophy cartridge.  I cut two pieces and just overlapped them to fit how I wanted!

CTMH Technique Blog Hop – Embossing Folders

Welcome to this month’s CTMH Technique Blog Hop.  Today you will see how we’ve used embossing folders.  If you have already started the hop, you should be coming from Joy McHargue.

Embossed Card by Wendy KesslerSupplies used are all Close to My Heart: Quatrefoil Embossing Folder, Cardstock (Indian Corn Blue, Colonial White), Scalloped Border Punch, Bronze Shimmer Trim, Paper Flowers (retired), Jubilee Paper Packet, and Brown & Tan Sparkles Assortment.

It has been quite awhile since I did anything in my scrapbook room even though I have had the idea for this card for quite some time.  My idea started with this pin and grew from there.  I am new to using embossing folders and I love how they add so much to a card.  I couldn’t help but bling this one up by placing sparkles in all the open embossed shapes.  This is a very easy card to replicate and is perfect for many different occasions (Birthday, Thank You, Mother’s Day)

Use Your Stash Blog Hop – Magnificent Metals

Girl Scout Bridging Layout by Wendy Kessler

Supplies used are all Close to My Heart: Cardstock (Outdoor Denim and Brown Bag (retired)), Ivy Lane Paper Packet, Jubilee Paper PacketPaper Fundamentals Basic Assortment, Skylark Complements, Durable Studs – Square (retired), Harvest Charms (retired), and Make It from Your Heart Volume 2 (Pattern 2).

I really enjoyed putting this layout together because it really is a stash buster.  I used old metals as well as scraps left from new papers, using up multiple paper packets.  For the metal I found some old accents that went with a specific paper packet.  This is a good example of thinking outside the box with these specific embellishments.  The complements that I used were also specific but I was able to mix those in as well.  I really wanted to use antique brads but it’s been so long I can’t find them (!) so I used the studs instead.
