June 2012 CTMH Use Your Stash Blog Hop – Oldest Paper

WELCOME!  I’m so glad you are joining us for our “Use Your Stash Blog Hop”.  If you have already started, you should be coming from Debi Barber’sBlog.  If this is your first stop, continue through until you make your way back here.

This month we are pulling out some of our oldest Close to My Heart paper.

Supplies used: CTMH Between Friends Level 1, CTMH Opaque Mocha Adhesive Gems, CTMH Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge, Petaloo Color Me Crazy Flowers, and Desert Sand ink.

This is among the oldest paper that I have.  I think I purchased it on clearance in my first days as a consultant.  Even though it’s old, the diecuts (not even stickers!) are going to work well for some teen girl pages.

Now hop on over to Michelle West’s Blog for more ideas on using up your stash.

If you get lost along the way you can see the entire list of hoppers on my previous post.

Rummage finds for my scrap room

So here is the start of my cleaning…I had to find homes for some of my new things:

I think I paid $4 for this shelf.  I wasn’t sure what I was going to do with it but I knew it would be great for organizing scrap supplies.  Not sure the flowers will stay there but it works for now.

I wasn’t sure where I was going to use this little set of drawers until it sat in my house for awhile.  Originally, I had planned to use it for socks, shoes, and hairbands, etc. in my daughter’s room.  Then I realized that the drawers hold the CTMH stamp sets perfectly!  So it now has a home in my scrap room.  I paid $10.

I only paid a couple dollars for this black set of drawers.  It doesn’t match but I knew it would fit perfectly with my other storage.  I suppose I could paint it but it’s fine for now and serves it’s purpose.

June 2012 CTMH Spotlight Blog Hop – using stamps to create your own patterned paper

Welcome to the June 2012 Close to My Heart Spotlight Blog Hop!  This month we will be showing you examples of how you can use your stamps to crate your very own personalized and unique patterend papers.  This is such a great use for your stamps and a great way to customize your layouts.

This blog hop is a circle so if you are just starting, continue until you make your way back here.  If you are coming from Haley D.’s Blog, you are on the right track!

Supplies used are all Close to My Heart unless otherwise noted: American Celebration Stamp Set, Wings Stamp Set (retired), Black ink, Lagoon ink, Cotton Candy ink, Lagoon CardstockCotton Candy Cardstock, Black Cardstock, White Daisy CardstockVineyard Berry Reinker, Create-a-Shade Paint, Spray Pen, Art Philosophy Cricut Collection stamp set, Ranger Liquid Pearls, and DCWV vellum quote.

Tip: To create my background I chose 1 large, 1 medium, and 1 small stamp.  I random stamped with Lagoon (second generation), Cotton Candy, and Black (second generation).  Second generation stamping is when you ink your image, stamp first on scrap paper, and then without reinking stamp on your project.  It gives you a shade lighter than the original color.  To soften the bright white, I sprayed with a mixture of Vineyard Berry reinker, Create-a-Shade Paint, and water in a Spray Pen.  Last I added some stamped words.  A few more tips: when creating backgrounds like this is to stamp off the edge of the page and start by first stamping the largest image and then fill in from there with the smaller images.
